User’s Handbook for Version 6 – updated Oct. 2011 - 14
Bb.
Tip: You can also apply that option for guitar that uses a capo or is set in open tuning. That way, you can
maintain the original tonality of the piece you play while the notation of the particular track you are working
on is made easier for you to read. To that effect, do remember to check, on your Stylesheet (F7), the option
"Capo and shifted tunings impact standard notation".
Click on OK to continue.
You can further choose a soundbank, set the tuning and the capo, etc. in the Instrument panel .
You are now ready to write the score . You may also add some new tracks to it.
Adding Tracks
Guitar Pro can handle a virtually unlimited number of simultaneous tracks (the limit being what your
computer can handle). What instrument you choose determines what type of staff you get — Grand staff for
piano, tablature for guitar, and so on. Besides, this also sets the range of the instrument, and the notes that
are out of range may appear in red. (See Stylesheet .)
To add a new track, use the menu: Track > Add..., or click on the icon above the Soundboard, to the
left.
A window then opens, for you to Select your instrument, and set its various attributes.
Follow three steps for the choice of instrument: Family, Type, and Instrument;
Display standard notation;
Display tablature (for fretted instruments);
Display rhythmic slashes (for fretted instruments);
Choose a Full Name that will appear before the first system;
Choose a Short Name that will appear before every other system (according to the settings of the
Stylesheet );
Pick a colour to use in the Global View.
The track’s Audio attributes are set in the Instrument and Audio panels.
Empty bars are automatically created for the added track, so that every track has the same number of bars,
for reasons of musical consistency.
To delete a track, use the Track > Delete menu, or the button.
To move a track, use the Track > Move up / down menu, or click on the buttons.
The button (or menu Track > Properties… (F6)) opens up the Track properties window (see
above), in which you can name the track as well as give it a short name (appearing before the first system).
